  1. Lindsay, Thanks for the response, I guess, as you say, it could be a number/combination of factors at work. We will just have to work our way through them. One suggestion from a flying friend re ground looping is to make the axle rotate and fix the wheels to the axle thereby ensuring both wheels rotate at the same speed. He said this helped with a particularly difficult example of the problem
  2. It looks as though it didn't. We have built three F C's at Hungerford MFC, two of which have had serious problems with 'ground looping' and a distinct reluctance to 'unstick' (the third is yet to maiden) One eventually got airborne after many attempts but needed huge up elevator to remain aloft. The second has yet to achieve departure from terra firma. We have reduced down thrust and increased elevator throws to no avail. C of G is as per plan. Any suggestions?
  3. Not sure if my earlier post got through re our problems with Flycatcher ground loop problems and refusal to 'unstick' If it did please ignore this post
  4. Two out of the three Fc's that have been built by members of the Hungerford MFC have attempted maidens without much success. Both exhibit significant ground loop problems. One eventually flew but needed huge 'up' elevator to remain airborne. The other is yet to fly despite about many attempts. We have tried reducing down thrust to no avail C of G is as per plan. Any suggestions? Brian Vance
  5. Lindsay, Ready to maiden one of three Flycatchers being built by myself and two modelling friends from Hungerford Model flying club. We have decided that it will be a flock of Flycatchers flying in formation (hopefully!). Can you give an indication of control throws you have ended up with and is there any exponential in there? Regards, Brian Vance
  6. Getting towards putting it all together now. There is no mention of side thrust, only down thrust, one degree. Any thoughts?
  7. Can anybody point me in the direction of the Hiid-Marshonet build blog by Tim Hooper please.
  8. Thank you Mowerman, I don't think I would have found it without your help. The site search engine did not acknowledge that it existed (Flycatcher pilot templates) How are you supposed to know that it is buried four layers down?
  9. Thanks for the prompt reply, I'll stick with the original design
  10. Could you get away without the ailerons?
  11. Where can I find the templates for the pilot, and are there any plans for a wood kit. Plan was in the August 2015 edition
