  1. Thanks Andy.  I've gone for the one Modelmaniacs sell.  They seem fine even if they are white and the underside of the Whisper wings is red.  I'll have a go with the paint.   It is strange where these servo boxes can and can't be found.  South Coast Sailplanes, who sell the Whisper, have some.  X-Models, who make the Whisper in Italy, say they are a Hitec item but Hitec no longer makes them.  The Robbe ones have a extension beyond the box, out over the rod connected to the  servo arm.  But the 'Hitec' covers stop at the edge of the box.  Anyway, I'm sorted now.  Time to get the boxes and servos in the wings and get back to the slopes where I belong.CheersBill
  2. Many thanks, Andy.  I have found a source for the Robbe boxes you mentioned -MS Composits, which I think is Eastern Europe.Cheers. Bill
  3. Does anyone know of a source of round wing servo boxes and covers (50mm diameter), preferably in red, that would fit the circular holes cut in an X-Models Whisper wing? Modelmaniacs have such boxes in white.CheersBill
  4. Anyone with experience of setting up a 2.5 e-sorer Bingo for thermal flight? What about c of g position and amount of aileron differential, aileron-rudder mix and flap-aileron droop and anything else for that matter, to produce, flat, stable, locked on turns? How about other things like elevator maximum travel and exponential?  Which aspects of the setup are the most critical and which can be varied to taste?
  5. Many thanks for your help, Tom.  That's fixed the problem.CheersBill
  6. I'm having difficulty working out how to programme in a bit of aileron droop for a Thermal flight phase on my Evo.  I seem to have managed the flap droop via the Thermal phase Flap Fixed Value screen, but cannot find how to drop the ailerons both at once.
  7. Many thanks, Terry.  What I think I really wanted was a ready made accurate template of the gearbox front end fixing holes to save me having to make my own.  I don't mind DIY, but want to avoid inaccuracies as far as possible. Bill
  8. Many thanks for all the ideas and help.  I'll have a go.Bill
  9. Many thanks, Ken.  Sounds good to me.  My 'little difficulty' was self inflicted rather than an encounter with the 'wrecker freemans' of the slopes.  I managed a cartwheel on take off while trying to get my thumb back on the right hand stick inside my hand muff -all within sight of John Elliot who just happened to have his new digital camera at the ready.  All very embarrassing! My 15 minutes of fame!
  10. Does anyone know of a motor mount with with holes 22mm apart that will go on the front of a Kontronik 6.1:1 gearbox?
  11. Any thoughts on how best to repair a creased/folded Whisper wing tip?  I now have a crease in the top and bottom skins, across the whole chord, just where the aileron ends.
  12. Thanks Simon. Looks interesting and at a really low price.
  13. What's a good source of large folding props in the UK?  I want a 18X11 inch beast for a large e-soarer.
  14. Sounds good to me, Wingman, but while the other AVAs have recommended power trains the Hyper AVA 3.95m span has none.  That's why I tried MotoCalc.  I suppose I need to check out the MotoCalc recommendations to see what the ratings are for the various combinations.   I like the idea of a 4300 battery - plenty capacity for maximum air time, even if it does add a bit to the overall weight.  I've been flying my Easy Glider Electric with 2S 3700 battery.
  15. I'm thinking of splashing out on a Hyper AVA Pro-E (from Hyperflight); 3.95 span, R/E/Spoiler, for sport e-soaring.  I want a large model that I can see at height and will give the best thermal performance in lighter winds. Can MotoCalc be relied on for advice on a power train for such a model?  Has anyone tried one of these models and found a power setup that works well?  Will the AVA spin out of a powerful thermal?
