  1. Glen. I've had the pleasure of looking around the Vulcan at RAF Leuchars airshow this weekend. Your model looks fantastic. It was amazing to see it fly it was a shame it couldnt during the show because of the weather.  I was lucky enough to be stood by the side of the runway when it took off on sunday morning. Stunning!!!!! I hope you could take a video when you fly it for the first time. Andy
  2. Dave I have a Thunder Tiger pro 46 its fantastic only had 1 dead stick in probably about 100 flights or so. It's very easy to start with the chicken stick and you only have to pick the starter up and its running. Saying that i wouldn't like to get my fingers in it!!!!  I've just picked up a second hand Javelin 40 with an ASP 61 in it so i will have to see how that goes hope to fly it tomorow.
  3. Not seen what it is but i'll have it if its free!!!!!
  4. Just picked up a Top Gun Javelin II second hand. Its a little battered and bruised but it came with engine, 5 futaba servos and rx unit for £90. I got it to use and abuse as my second model. What i need to know is if any of you guys know approx  where the C of G should be on it. Cheers for any help.
  5. I went up the field this morning, had one flight everything was good. Then went for it. The wind got a bit bumpy which made it a little untidy but it was all in the right place. Landed then went back up for the dead stick. It was probably my best landing to date.  Then after a couple of questions got the great words congratulations you've passed.  I impressed myself only took about 6 weeks. Could have been quicker had the scottish weather been better!!
  6. I've had a good weekends flying. The 1st 2 flights were on the buddy box both went well i did everything myself. Then the scary words came out!! " get it started and dont bother bringing your buddy box" Everything went well flown 5 times off the buddy box all was good. The last flight was windy and ended up with it pointing at the floor at about 50 feet thankfully within no time without thinking it was back up straight and level acting a little less like a brick!! All the guys were saying if the examiner was there i would have passed this weekend. I was well pleased to hear that after only 15 flights. All being well i'll be passed the next time he comes up the field.
  7. Hi I have been given a Guillows Cessna 172 Skyhawk (kit 802) and i'm going to convert it to RC with a electric motor and Lipo. (dont have a clue about electric motors and batterys but thats alot of fingers glued together before that point!!) I've seen small servos. I was thinking about fixing one aileron and just having one moving not sure i'll se how easy it will be to fit them to the wings. I will work out the elevator and rudder at a later date after i see how much room i have in the fuselage for the rx speed controller and the servos. I'm going to cover it in solarfilm instead of the paper and dope route. I was wondering if anyone out there had tried to do this with any sucsess? Any hints and tips on this would be very much appreciated. Cheers Andy
  8. I've ordered one now. Not bothered about the wait it will give me time to save my pennys for a 4 stroke for it. I might make the 2.4 jump with this model. Just flying my trainer as much as i can for now.
  9. Andy  I might as well cut and paste your blog. I'm at just about the same stage as yourself. Landings are a bit bumpy but guess that's to be expected. Good luck with the rest of your lessons Andy
  10. Cheers for that Tim Great picture to. Andy
  11. I was thinking about getting a Hangar 9 Pulse XT 40 as a second model (1st low wing) what do you guys think of this model? Would it be suitable as a second aircraft? It looks a really nice bit of kit. Cheers Andy
  12. I managed to reunite my plane with the floor this morning and its still in 1 piece!!!! What a buzz. Im well pleased only my 8th flight. On my 9th flew it from take off to landing without any help! How addictive is this flying malarky?????

  16. Just after a bit of advise chaps. Is it worth splashing out £130 on the Realflight G4 sim to help me learn? Ive heard its a really good flight sim but is it good for trying not to crash on? Cheers Andy
  17. Birdy Im up in scotland and if its not windy you normally find your still inside so it made it interesting to say the least. Guess i will have to put up with it!!!
  18. Had my 1st ever flights this weekend on my Thunder Tiger trainer. What a buzz!! After the 1st flight on saturday i was shaking like a leaf!!!  Roll on next weekend
  19. Dave Yes got a hitec optic 6 and a laser 4 as a buddy box. I doubt flying it will be as hard as getting the buddy box to work!!! You need to be sat on a unicorn wearing pink shoes and connect them up in the right order with 1 eye shut!!! Thankfully the pet shop had one in the end. The optic has the jack plug and the laser has the din connector. Got it sorted in the end!!
  20. Cheers Alex All the best yourself mate.
