  1. Thanks Victor, You said your WOT flew well with the TT40 and at 5lb 10oz,  So mine at a possible weight of 6lb plus with the  SC46 should be OK when balanced. Also it can be a bit windy at our site , so the extra weight may help.
  2. WOW!  Victor ,allowing for some spare, that must be 60ma per flight.  My heli takes  a minimum of 325ma per flight so i stuck in a 1400mah in the WOT just in case.  ( i'm a bit paranoid when it comes to battery size ).       Your 700mah batt as you say is more than enough for you, and because of small size , would fit behind the servos.  I stuck in DS589's in mine , and i've also got an SC46 were as you have a TT40, so that adds to nose weight. I did try it as a tail dragger, but with the solid u/c it seemed to nose down more on balance ,than as a trike.
  3. Regarding C of G and weight.     Coming from Helis, i use big batteries  (2400mah nicads, and now 3000 - 4300  2s2p lipos).  What battery size are you using?    With using a 1400mah nicad batt i  had.      In it's correct forward position and 25grms on tail it's still way too nose heavy and weighs in at 5lb 12oz, against Ripmax weight of 5lb 7oz. for the model.  It would balance out OK if i could get it under the elevator/rudder servos, but it will not fit there, and didn't want to use anything smaller.    I see Bill  added 120grms to his, but that would make mine about 6lb 2oz..            How heavy are your WOT Trainers?
  4. John , would something like this do , http://www.modelflying.co.uk/forum/forummessages/mps/dt/4/UTN/3357/last/1/V/6/SP/ On the first page of the post Dave Mills has pictures of a 4stroke install on a pulse XT, although it may be a tight fit on a WOT. as there's not much room with the side panels.  Not familiar with 4stroke installs
  5. Hi Kevin, I've got the blade cx2, and mine's the same. I've had it for a week.  Spins quicker clockwise than anticlock.  It's the first twin rotor i've had , so i assumed it was part of the twin- rotor design. It's a great little heli. I've had a fp twister and pocket zoom, but this is the best one for flying in the house.   I've been a handed flier, always flying clockwise circuits, but  with this i've flown anticlock and nose in which i couldn't do with the others indoors.  I know it's easier to fly , but you still have to put in the correct inputs to fly it.      ** Next for practicing will be backwards flying.**
  6. Enter me in the draw , thanks.  First time i've entered a draw.      A newbee draw partaker.
  7. Thanks Victor and Peter.  On Heli's i normally use 20% on hovering and 10% on flying (idle-up 1 & 2) to smooth things out on all channels,  so it's nice to hear you just use expo on elevator only and not on ailerons or rudder,  as i would have used some on them all. Victor  -  I'm setting my throws as per instructions for now, and i also have a Futaba radio, although i fit JR servos  (DS589's on the WOT) Peter - I don't know if i read a previous post that you said you only had 6minutes duration, so i put in a larger  14oz  tank, and i've pined all my aileron hinges after Alec's ailerons had come away. Thanks again.
  8. Just a quick question for those that have flown the WOT Trainer. What expo are you using on ailerons, elevator and rudder.     This is my first plane, as i have been previously flying Helicopters.
  9. Thanks for the quick reply Alec.  Now i'll pin mine to be on the safe side. i've got an SC46. I just ran mine for a few tanks at about quarter throttle and at factory rich settings, and then weakened it up till it ran OK.  It may be the old way but i've had no problems.   I use an electric starter to start mine. My  main needle is now  3 quarter of turn out plus another 2 clicks of the needle.  The main thing i did was to replace any glow plug that comes with the engine , and fit an Enya No.3. I find it's a great plug and has worked on my OS's ,TTs and SC.    When i first started flying Heli's i fitted the standard OS No.8, but always had trouble with the motor quitting . I was then told to change to an Enya No.3, and have had no problems with tuning since.
  10. Alec Did the hinges just pull out ( not glued correctly at the factory ) , or did they break.   If they just pulled out then i'll pin mine in. Just finishing my WOT trainer. All i've got to do is adjust the throws and balance it.
  11. Hi I've just joined the site, so this is my first post. Just coming from building and flying Heli's for 7yrs, this is my second aircraft trainer. An impulse buy .  After seeing it advertised in RCM&E , i saw one at Weston Park and bought it, seeing it was a Chris Foss design. As above , mine came with the elevator/rudder crossed, - a very tight nose wheel movement, - the rudder/elevator guide glued to the frame,so none adjustable. - no indication which way around the motor mounts should be, - and wing joiner metal tube to be cut down. Although my wings joined tight together in a good fit after the tube was cut down, and the tailplane and fin was a tight fit also. I've built mine as a trike so there's a lot of internal control rod bending to accomodate the crossed linkage. Hope it'll fly as good as it looks.
