  1. Thanks Alve, that's good to know. I took my first foray into petrol with an ngh25, but for me it was too noisy on it's standard silencer and the manifold screw fixing distance was bigger than the DLE size; so the smaller ngh9 with a standard fit exhaust is good, and I do like the Wot4. Could be a nice winter hack.
  2. It's OK Alve. Just wondered wether it was the same as a 2 stroke glo with the quiet silencer on it, or wether it was noisier like normal standard 2 stroke petrols.
  3. Alve How loud is the engine on the quiet silencer exhaust.
  4. Mine is a 3s 2150 mah 25C lipo. Turns over 2s, 4st and my 25 cc 2 st petrol.
  5. That's what I have. An Align starter and a Lipo glo starter. The Align starter is brilliant but costs.
  6. It is a clever design, but I didn't want to chance hangar rash with flight boxes and a couple of planes. Then I just wanted to go with minimal equipment to the flying field, which was the main reason, but if your having problem bending down then the great mate is ideal for assembling the plane and starting. For the cost, it was very well constructed. Mines a keeper, still looks new, when the time comes I may need it. At Weston Park I also saw him with a load of brackets to allow planes to be held securely in the car in holders, like the ones on the great mate.
  7. I've got one as well.I also bought with it, the transmitter support and brackets, starter holder, magnetic tray holder with tray, sidewinder support, extended support to tail for larger aircraft, extended outrunner legs for larger planes, and finally wheels to convert it to a truck. Used to use it a lot when I flew heli's, but when I changed to planes, I found it took up too much room in the car. Preferred to put in another spare plane; so I just now use it as a work stand. It was a bit heavy too; stretching in the car to put it in and out. Although I still have it if my knees start playing up.
  8. It's good being sensible, but waiting for 0 wind can be too cautious. I remember when I started flying in my club, I always used to wait for a perfect day, but the trouble was, i only flew 4 times in a year. After 4 years I retired, and said this is silly I'll never learn, so I started flying every time with my instructor, and passed my A the following year. You've just got to go and fly, the instructors their to help.
  9. Wrexham 2279 for me. Flight Sergeant and then instructor. Those were the days. Battling it out with Hawarden in the Drill competitions; Singing those unmentionable songs,in the back of the bus on the way home from Shawbury. Brings back memories. Use to call me Noddy, as I was always falling asleep in the pub. And why was it the barman always used to ask me was I over eighteen, when I was the only one there who was. Great days.
  10. I though the orange colour would be OK , but it's a bit flat . Not like a fluorescent orange. It does build quickly though, and fly's well. Had trouble logging on to this site, and only got back on today, that's why the late call on colour.
  11. The Calmato is a great plane; though don't get orange. With orange you loose sight of the wings in turns if you take it further out. Watch the covering; it does tear easily, and the u/c does bend, but it,s OK. Tried to get an OS 55 in mine , for more power over the ASP46 but the OS was a bit too wide. One of the lads in the club bought a calmato60, but after flying it for a while he thought he would have preferred the 40 size. The Calmato is a great choice. I may get another one.
  12. With my cougar , I fly straight, then roll, and just before inverted apply down elevator. This pushes it up slightly when it comes inverted. Continue the roll, and just before upright apply up elevator. Which again pushes the plane up. From there keep the roll going and do exactly the same thing again. Start practicing with one roll, and as others said ,with a little up, before you commence the roll, then once you,ve got the timing right , continue with two. It,s just getting the elevator movement right at the right time in the roll, or you will just push the plane out off line. Edited By Max50 on 29/09/2015 07:59:27

Yeah. I like the look of this one too. Don't mind chubby. Plenty of room. Plus I like the wing shape: not just your parallel cord. Looks OK.. Plenty of engine for a 62" as well. Nice ! .
  14. I had problems u/g from W7 to W10. Had ESET Smart Security. They said it would install straight over , but it didn't like it. So I un-installed the ESET virus checker , then up graded to W10, and then re-installed ESET. Up to now it's been working OK for a few weeks. No problems ( as I quickly look around for some wood to touch )
  15. Mine at the moment is my Weston Cougar 2000 with an old OS35 FP. It's normally my winter hack, until I pick my next low/mid wing aero. May go down to Whitchurch Models tomorrow and have a look around.
  16. Duff info from my post above. They say your memory goes when you get older. I was going to get it from Aluminium Droitwich, but I went to one of the shows, ( Weston or Cosford ) , and there was a bloke selling metalwork there. I questioned him about what I was looking for , and I bought the plate off him. Just found the plate with the info written on it.
  17. The last bit of aluminium i bought , i got off e-bay from Aluminium Droitwich. Bought it for the Lizzy u/c. They sell in small sheets. But as above you have to get the correct type. The soft stuff just bends on landing. I bought HE15 but never used it , and it was dear stuff ,and they don't seem to stock it at present. £25 for a small sheet. Do a search for the types of different grades, but you may think again about buying ali sheet .I think i remember it does take some force to bend it , and you've got to get it right first time.
  18. Have a look in RCGroup.com Jet turbine section, there is a post there from John Wright. Don't do jets myself. I just go there for the Jeti radio section which you get a lot of info .
  19. Seems to be a new company setting up. www.wrenpowersystems.com See RC Group Aircraft-Fuel-Jet Jet Turbine section.
  20. For me , it would not be the cost of buying a suitable silencer, but wether it did it's job after you've paid the money out for it. Also wether you could get it to fit. Some years back I bought a quiet silencer for a heli cost £100 , which was louder than some standard silencers.
  21. Spoke too soon.W10 had updates ready, but wouldn't restart correctly after restart. No auto recovery or restore point previously set would correct the error. So now have gone back to W7, and will be staying with it, even though I liked W10.
  22. I've upgraded to W10. First time the upgrade went OK but whilst running , it had a W10 update ,and when rebooted ,would not run. Kept going to a W10 repair mode which couldn't repair the problem. Finally took an advanced option and reverted back to W7. After a day I upgraded again to W10 and up to now everything seems to be working OK. The only program that wouldn't run was Seagate dashboard. So I uninstalled it , and i'll wait for an update. So for me , I was able to update to W10 a second time after I previously restored W7.
  23. Thanks Bob C. Just wired my retracts as you described , and now works a treat. Bought a second hand Hangar 9 Thunderbolt as my first warbird, and had just the one Rx battery. Have now fitted a second retract battery as you described. Works great. It previously had one fitted, but was only fitted out with servos, and I didn't know how to wire one in. Thanks again.
  24. Calmato 40 is a nice flyer. On my second engine in it. Upped it to a .52. Covering's a bit brittle, but don't get the orange one, as the colouring makes the wings disappear on turns when at a distance. I have some fluorescent orange strips on mine now , after tearing the covering. Also I'm finishing off an ARTF Acro Wot at the moment, as everyone seems to like an Acro Wot. I've also got a Cougar2000. Again nice flyer.BH Super Air is another very nice flyer , but can tip stall on landings if you forget and bring her in too slow.
  25. Thanks for the reply Graeme. I was wondering if it could be a distraction on your first comp or not. It's nice to know you do not have to have one. We've got an F3A flyer in the club who had a flying buddy with him when they went to competitions, and use to fly as a team, calling for each other, but now they've dropped out of flying comps at present, but he still practices the schedule, and it's nice to watch him flying at the field.
