  1. Two nice schemes there! Bet they were fun to apply
  2. Thanks for the update Tony. Looking at the pics, I cant see any reason why a 80mm fan would not go in there. It is going to be a 6S model anyway, so its a step up from the current 4S models. That is until my Freewing 90mm Eurofighter is ready! I look forward to the plan, and to see if it will take the 80mm.
  3. As Andy said, shame about the handlaunch version. It does look very good flying! Are you going to have the chance to try a bungee launch Tony?
  4. My Dad went today, and I was going to go tomorrow and meet him up there. He suggested it was not worth the 2 hours trip each way. Not happy about it as I have been looking forward to it. I also need a few things including fuel. A shame circumstances seem to have worked against the show by the sound of it.
  5. They look great! I hope the hand launch goes well as its my only option, or a bungee.
  6. Hi, I am trying to work out the best way to attach the ply gear doors to the wire legs on my Hangar 9 P47. It comes with the usual saddle clamp style brackets. That will work at the wheel end, but the one half way along the leg interferes with the plastic wheel well liner. I don't think I can reduce the width of the bracket enough to work. Any alternatives please?
  7. Looking good Tony As far as the hook location goes, I have read on rc groups many times there is a basic starting point. You measure from the nose to the cg. The hook goes 2/3 of that measurement from the nose. Say nose to cg is 600mm, the hook goes 400mm from the nose. That explanation is just in case my statement makes no sense btw! If you were to hang the model on the hook with a vertical cord, there would be an approx angle of 20 degrees from the vertical. Too low an angle is not good trust me! Hope this helps.
  8. I use a 5 cell sub c pack in my Seagull Sea Fury, that has 8 servos and electric retracts. I use two HD switches in parallel, connected via the deans plug charge lead. I have this setup as it needed some weight up front, and with the possibility of a high load the sub c pack can handle it better than an AA pack, in my opinion!
  9. I am sure that I read here somewhere that oil based varnish is better as a fuel proofer.
  10. A very sad loss for his family, friends and the aeromodelling community as a whole.
  11. Congrats looks to fly really well. I'm hoping it will get away ok from a less athletic hand launch as I usually do it myself. It looked to come in pretty slowly, were the flaps used?
  12. Thats a bummer. It looks like it has gone back together ok though, and getting it flying is the main thing so best of luck today
  13. No sorry I was referring to my Freewing one. I also have an ArtTech one and the Graupner/Sapac version. So you can tell I like them!
  14. Looking good! It would be great to have some more edf airframes to choose from. There were loads of foam airframes a few years ago, but the choice has dropped right away. There is a lot of good edf kit around and not much to put it in! 70mm is a good starting point imo. I must start on my 90mm Eurofighter soon... Best of luck for the maiden
  15. Thanks for the feedback on the ducting Tony. I have seen a few larger edf builds where there is no specific ducting and the fan is fitted with a bell inlet. I have also noted that turbine models have very little ducting and have all sorts of bits in the airflow, but I guess they have thrust to spare. I would like to see a Eurofighter too, preferably 70mm but scaling up to 90mm would be easy enough. Please!!
  16. Looks like just what I need! And my wife cant complain as she works at Air Command and my 3yr old son loves the Red Arrows. It would most likely be a belly lander for me and maybe a bungee launch depending on the static thrust. Are you planning to make an intake duct into the fan or leave it as per the pics?
  17. Looks great. I had a chance to pick up a nib one at a show last year and didn't. Wishing I had now! I personally prefer the bubble canopy to the Razorback version.

Latest progress. I dont get much chance to have a good go at it, so its time grabbed here and there. I made a slight faux pas by gluing the motor mount plate in upside down, resulting in a job to rectify it.... I think I will go with the dark blue easycoat to finish, I am not a great fan of sanding and glassing it will mean lots of that! I was thinking of doing a black and white checker on the cowling to help orientation, but I'm not sure of the best technique to make it as easy as possible. Any ideas welcomed

  20. I managed to get through to the service dept after quite a few attempts. They are sending me a new switch for the pleasure of £4.20. Guess things have changed down there compared to my previous experiences.
  21. I saw the new issue in Smiths today, and I was half expecting to find it on the doormat as it is usually early. Not complaining, but has anyone had it yet?
  22. Thanks chaps I will give them a call
