cyclops2
Can I use a Clark Y with good sport scale flying ?
David perry 1
The question doesnt make sense, but I think you mean, if you use Clarke Y, will your plane still be a good sports flying machine. The answer is "yes". The full on aerobatics wont be too hot and inverted will struggle, but for general messing around it'll be fine. If you are making the section yourself it wont be a true Clarke Y, so flatten it a bit more and your sports performance will increase. Remember that our models fly with everything from undercambered to flat plate and then to fully convex symetry...you really cant go wrong! Simon Chaddock
cyclops2You say sports scale flying? The Clark Y is a good standard aerofoil and with a largely flat underside it is easy to construct accurately on a building board, however it is little used in full size aircraft (except for propellers) so it is going to depend on how "scale" you want it to look. Now if you built a scale Ryan NYP that Charles Lindberg flew across the Atlantic that actually used a Clark Y wing section.
cyclops2
Here is a early photo of it. I have started to finally finish the plane. 6 sq ft of WA. Complete RTF weight should be at 2 lbs. 4 GWS 40 mm EDFs.
