Paul Rodgers
Hi all,I would like to know which is the best paint to use to decorate a model. Imyself would have thought using an enamel paint such as humbrol would do, but not sure. Soyour comments would be helpful. Thanks all. Evan Pimm 2
Solarfilm make a proper paint system for their films, if your LHS sells film then they should have the primer and paint as well.Evan.
Chris Dickens
Before painting key the surface by rubbing down with 600grit wet and dry used wet, wash then prime with 'prymol' which is solarfilms etch primer.I've never painted a whole model before but this is the method I use before weathering ARTF film coverd warbirds, I spray Humbrol enamels thinned with celelouse thinners and fuelproof with matt Aerocote. leigh hodson
Wire wool is good for keying the surface too. dosent leave any scratch marks. I found the best way to put the prymol on was to use a clean rag dip in and apply sparingly. Also make sure your paints are thinned well and use a few coats. the film tends to wrinkle if you put the paint on thick.
