David's Funeral will be at Kettering Crematorium (Albert Nunn Chapel) on Friday 23rd April at 1.30. From the number of people that have said they are going I am sure it will be standing room only.

I knew David for 40+ years, first as a tyro RC flyer, then building models for him for both Wings and Flambards, doing kit reviews in his days as magazine editor and in recent years test flying and photo shoots with him. David was a founder member of both the Wellingborough OG's MFA and the Nene Valley Aeromedellers, as was myself. I'm sure that all members of both clubs will join me in expressing our condolencies to Jill and the family. Chris

I've only just caught up with this thread as I have been dealing with a close family bereavement. I did know David was very ill and my sympathies go out to all his family and close friends. I learned to fly with David in the early 70s, have known him ever since and have built many of his designs. A nicer and more helpful bloke you will never meet. What more can I say except that I hope the next piece of news is good.

The bind plug just shorts out the two outer pins on the battery input on the receiver, this puts it into 'bind' mode. it will all be explained in the instructions when you get the model. Chris

1. Mode 1 2 Northamptonshire 3 northamptonshire 4 Self taught (early 70's) but all members of the club at that time flew mode 1and trimmed models out for beginners.

I've recently built the Eflite Dueces wild and that has the blade nearest the fuselage going down. So as Simon says 'you pays your money and takes your choice!' I think that the best way will be different for each airframe layout so experiment to see which is best, it's easy to change the rotation of a leccy motor.

Stephen I've got a Flair Stearman that is half built and as supplied by Flair there are two ABS mouldings for the front fuselage fairing and the dummy engine crankcase along with eight plastic cylinders. The real one has nine cylinders but one will be replaced by the model engine. Carbon Copy do GRP mouldings for the fairing and engine but you would still need to source the cylinders. Chris

All this set me thinking and I did a quick total up of what I have bought this year so far, I wish I hadn't now. Not includind odds & ends and travelling costs it came to just over £3500 so the real total must be nearly £4000! This does include my new transmitter (DSX12) that I bought in January but the total still suprised me - Lucky I'm single and can afford it!

I've got the electric version - WASP 0.40 equvalent motor turning 12x6 prop using 4S 3000mah li-po, flies a treat , I had to repair the U/C plate when it pulled off but I had landed off the runway and ran into 12" deep tyre ruts! I thought that the cowl loation and fixing was very poor.

On Saturday 16th May the Aerobatic Helicopter Association (AHA) will be holding an 'RC Heli Jam' hosted by Wellingborough Ogee’s Model Flying Club. Here the public are invited to come along & take advantage of a number of services available during the day - heli clinic, sessions on the buddylead, sportsmans coaching, an informal judging seminar & a fun competition (bottle knock, slalom etc). There will be a small charge for each of these & profits from the days events will go to the Team Fund. This will be followed on Sunday 17th May by a round of the AHA F3C/Sportsmans competition. If you have never flown a helicopter before (or even if you have) come along on the Saturday and have a go or com on the Sunday to see how really to do it! Nick Just a thought is your wing banded on? if so you probably don't have enough and when the model picks uo a bit of excess airspeed in the downward part of the loop the leading edge of the wing lifts giving lots of extra lift! As for the wheel layout, yes a nose wheel model will not nose over but that leg can take one h**l of a pounding if you land too hard. I prefer the tailwheel layout, it will nose over on rough ground but if it is very rough you wouldn't be using retracts and so you could bend the legs forward so that it wouldn't be so prone to nose over. I have run ASP, Saito & OS fourstrokes on Pro-synth 10% (don't posses any two strokes now) with absolutly no problems. Virtually changed over to electrics and Petrol now but the two gallons I have left will be used up on my one remaining glow model.
