Shaun Clarke
I am very new to building having just aquired an unbuilt Olympian 40 Trainer with a Irvice 40 ABC engine from a friend. The wings are constructed from a ply frame, polystyrene & a veneer finish. The wing halves are joined by a large wooden dowel and require gluing. I have just brought some BSI 15 minute Epoxy...is this safe to use on the polystyrene & is it the correct adhesive for the job? Thanks. Tim Mackey
it should be fine... most glues are ok on polystyrene EXCEPT CA ( cyano / superglue ) although you can get what is known as "foam friendly" cyano ...also known as odourless.Epoxy is better for many jobs anyway as it gives a little time to position and clamp things up before it cures. Allan Jordan
Morning Timbo, I have been using B&Q own brand epoxy for a long time now and I have not had any problems. What do you use? Regards Allan J...TTFN
Tim Mackey
I like either the flair "twinset" or the one that comes in the "matched pair syringes"For a really strong epoxy, I like Devcon. I also find myself using the gorilla glue a lot more these days, seems theres nothing this stuff wont stick and very well too, just not got the cure speed of epoxy of course.
