Auxilliary power connector for electric model

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I will need to do some fiddling with one of my models to get all the flight controls operating properly. I've already had a scare when I inadvertently switched the motor on.

For this sort of thing, would there be anything wrong with connecting a separate receiver type battery to the receiver, and leaving the flight pack disconnected? It would certainly power the receiver and servos, and prevent the motor running. What I'm not sure of is whether the ESC and/or BEC would have a problem.

What do the panel think?

Thanks, Tony S

I was hoping to avoid that, as the receiver is deeply embedded in the fuselage, and moving it would probably mean disconnecting some of the servos. Then it would need to be reassembled for testing, then stripped out again and put back to go into service.

My idea was to leave a servo extension lead plugged into a spare channel so my test battery could be connected to that for workshop testing and setup.
