In a strange twist of coincidence I have flattened my flightbox battery and now need a replacement. Not having a lot of luck with batteries at th mo :-/

Anyway - a couple of members at my club have suggested using a 3 cell LiPo.... certainly lighter and although a cheap one wouldn't be 7Ah they are easy enough to charge these days. You would have to be going some to actually use 7A for an hour.
Worth a thought.

Hi Ed,thanks for the idea. It had crossed my mind too, but not being part of the leccy brigade thought no more of it. The7Ah idea came about as this was the smallest I could find locally. Cheers.  p.s. also wondered what amperage  an electric starter would pull in use ?

not sure to be honest, the guys who suggested the LiPo idea to me have also modified their starters so that there is a big(ish) 3 cell LiPo velcro'd to the side of the starter, works a treat and means no trailing cables. Align sell a starter designed specifically like this.
Also means the LiPo in the flight box can be quite small as it only needs to power the fuel pump, and a glow clip if you don't already use a portable glow clip.
