Tony Bennett
i am having a dilema about the center cabane struts.the top center section of the wing will be permanently fitted to the fuselage and i am not sure what to make the struts out of.there will be 2 W sets and then 4 diagonals from the top of each engine pod.each strut measures 6mmx18mm and then shaped. i will have to have a ponder. Biggles' Elder Brother - Moderator
Hi Tony, Obviously the entire wing load goes through these struts doesn't it? My Pup has a fixed centre section like this, what I did was solder and wire bind a basic wire framework (undercarrage style) over a wooden jig to get the alignment right, then the wooden cabanes are from pine and just fitted around this framework sandwich fashion and sanded to shape. I think this is fairly classical solution. BEB The wire on the jig. The wire framework The framework fitted to the upper wing centre section (obviously in an inverted position), and finally The assembled wing.
