christopher small
I have had a few problems with the battery pack moving around, once it upset the C of G,and the second time the battery pack pushed forward into the motor and ruined it.I wondered what other modellers with the same plane were doing. The Nicad pack is rammed in tight but still moves at times. Jonathan Lewzey
It sounds like you're having problems restraining the battery for flight and having it easily removeable. If you haven't already done one of these then they're worth a go:-use velcro to hold the pack down. It can be epoxied to just about any flat (or semi flat) surface.-make a battery cradle from balsa, ply or a mixture of both. This can have a simple screw release or a sliding arm. The only disadvantage is that only one type and size of pack can fit in properly.-For a non (or limited) aerobatic model then just build four vertical pieces into your model so that the battery stays put along the horizontal axis. For a non-aerobatic model, no lid/retainer is necessary.Oh, and if your motor is dead, i'd suggest going brushless. just find a cheap brushless combo rated at 90+ watts per pound and you'll be laughing.Jonathan
