Gary Miles
Hill I've just bought a crash damaged acrowot of ebay to repair as a bit of project with my kids over the school holidays.I've just built a new fuselage but the mid section of the wing has had an argument with a tree...and lost.but its damaged the veneer and not the foam .So could i just reveneer the damaged area,or do i have to replace the section of foam to?The damaged surface is about 3" in from the trailing edge & 4" wide.Is there a right &wrong way to repair this.Or could i even part re-rib it.Your help would be most appreciated. Djay
Hello Gary. I would carefully cut away the damaged area of veneer to a uniform shape, and replace it with soft balsa roughly the same thickness. Glue it down with Gorilla glue or similar foaming type glue. then sand flush and recover the area. Check the foam after removing the damaged veneer, but the glue should foam up and repair any damage to the core. Darryl

Simon B
Make sure you hold down the wood while it dries though. Gorilla glue expands and will push it up if you're not careful.
Djay
Gary, just a thin layer of gorilla glue, and hold the balsa down with clear tape to stop the wood lifting, as Simon has mentioned. Good luck. Darryl
