Karl Settle Posted January 5, 2008 Share Posted January 5, 2008 Hi all, 1st post to the forum, apologies if i break any rules plmk.I was in local IT shop in Horwich getting new graphics card and they had this : http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp?WebProductID=718543on display. Brand new to this RC flying lark, been into Kites for ages though. I was on holiday and these guys turned up with an assortment of RC planes - didn't even know you could get electric stuff. One guy had this seaplane, 2 had helis another had an A10 Warthog and that was it, saw an RCME mag in WHSmiths & now looking to buy my first - can't decide what though.K Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

If you're after a heli' then a twin rotor machine like the Twister Hawk is the best place to start although you're looking at £90-100. This is a four-channel bird with a proper transmitter included - it's a very good starter package. Steve Loates Posted January 6, 2008 Share Posted January 6, 2008 Hi Karl, My personal advice would be to avoid it like the plague. My son has a similar product, I fly a Honeybee King II and even I cannot get it to fly properly. It will hover with some judicious throttle changes although it is not a good hover.....tends to change altitude quite easily. The tail rotor is not proportional, so any input sends it spinning like a top! Any wind at all and it becomes a dot on the horizon! To get it it to fly forwards you have to add some blue tack to the nose, but the amount you have to add makees the thing so heavy that the motor can't really cope and you more or less have to hand launch (with a throw) and the batteries only last about 2-3 minutes with the weight added! Unfortunately, you get what you pay for, David Ashby' comments are on the ball and he knows what he is talking about. Hope to see you on a field with a proper heli sometime in the future.
