Andy Mc
Sorry to dig up this old thread, but I've just read it with interest, there's some great input. I've had my DX8 just a couple of weeks and so far generally I'm very happy with it. The lipo is tempting, but until this 2 week old NiMh is a year or 2 older I'll hold off. I must admit no not being impressed by the lack of charging cut off for the NiMh pack, so I thought I'd take it out and charge it externally on a delta peak charger. But... what's with that connector??? I haven't got anything like that amongst my many charge leads, is a lead with that connector available? Devcon1
As an update, my final outcome with Horiizon/Spektrum was as follows. Horizon acknowledged that some earlier NimH packs supplied with the DX8 had faulty cells and were not functioning properly whilst in an overcharge state with resultant damage through overcharging. I still maintain the lack of charging control with the inbuilt charger (NiMh) will always be liable to fault/failure and subsequent damage and is not the best design feature of the DX8. As a result, the problem was resolved by the supply FOC of a LiPo pack from Horizon,. I must say I have always been happy with Horizon, very happy with HH products I own (quite a few) and very happy with my DX8, and have subsequently purchased othe HH products and will continue to do so, and now very happy with this particular resolution.
