Sounded too good to be true as it is also a fuel proofer, so I have bought some but have'nt used it yet. Tony Bennett Posted January 23, 2013 Share Posted January 23, 2013 it will warp thin wood as it is water based unless you use sanding sealer first. it will also foam if you brush too hard, but the foam can be spread out and soon dissapears. Richard Wood Posted January 23, 2013 Share Posted January 23, 2013 Hi Douglas, It's glow, diesel & petrol proof according to the manufacturer. I use it all the time now on sheet fuselages with lightweight tissue & thoroughly recommend it. As Tony says it is water based & will warp or swell wood if not sealed beforehand. Best used in thin coats - about 8 - & then rubbed down with fine wet & dry to get a very smooth finish. It's not quite as durable as trad dope. pete taylor Posted January 23, 2013 Share Posted January 23, 2013 I've used Poly-C on balsa, obechi and foam in conjunction with glass cloth and as a varnish/top coat. Excellent results all round! I did a couple of small experiments before commiting to an airframe to check on the warping issue and can confirm Tony's comments. Might be worth a little play first. It's quick drying, odour free and washes up with water - what more can you ask?? I can't speak for it's fuel resistance as i fly electric. Ruprect Spode Posted January 23, 2013 Share Posted January 23, 2013 Can it be used on open structures with tissue? On open structures(wings etc.) do.you wet the tissue and apply poly c when damp?
