Matt Watts
Hi everyone,I got an idea that had me in a frenzy a few months back - build a halo longsword (yaaaaaaay I got that out of me). I posted this on the BMFA and RCUniverse forums but got hardly any useful info (other than it would be tricky). I reckon that Tony Nijhuis could do it (begging? Me? I never...) can someone design and build one? (preferably EDF, varying wingspan, NOT A PROFILE!!!)Follow this link for deatilshttp://nikon.bungie.org/misc/sloftus_longswordtour/Oh yes and I know that it would need modifying to fly.Erm, yeah, that pretty much wraps it up.Tony, if you see this, could you give it a go or at least say how stupid I am for even contemplating this? Mike Rolls
MattDon't intend to try one myself - but just to encourage you - looks a flyable shape with care - only real problem might be the marked lack of side area - can't see it knife-edging!Mike
Matt Watts
Well, considering the size of the rudder...I'm afraid to say that I can't build this myself, as I'm only 14, have Saturday school (AAARRGHGHGHH!!!) and, as such, hardly any free time. I'm building the Simplex at the moment as my first plan build. A profile shape would easily fly, although they frankly look repulsive, and that would probably ruin the aspect of EDF power or that proper jetty feel
leigh hodson
angle your edf outlets outwards a bit and put the escs on a mixer so you have differential thrust. still wont knife edge but should give you loads more stability. Just make sure the outlets are angled symetrically or it will spin like a frisbee!!
Matt Watts
Hehe, good tip! Won't that create more drag though (funny hunch I can't get rid of) or make it slower? Also, how easy would it be (perhaps consdering) to make a profile LS, just draw and cut in a few minutes? I don't know that much about it.
