Airpaddler
Could anyone reccomend an off the shelf, external battery cutoff switch please. Not Rx type. But in line between battery and esc.
Masher
Hi This topic has cropped up a number of times and a switch isn't really feasible because of the high currents involved - you would need automotive type switches which are big and heavy or add more complexity such as a remotely operated relay. The way most people seem to be overcoming this problem is to use an in-line Deans connector into which you put a shorting link to arm it. One of the threads is here: http://www.modelflying.co.uk/forums/postings.asp?th=80526 Also, this was covered in the latest RCM&E magazine - they are straightforward to make as long as you are confident at soldering - this needs to be good quality to avoid losses and be reliable Hope this helps
Airpaddler
Masher - Thanks for info. Seems like a gap in the UK market for someone here!
Tim Mackey
Really I think you can ( if you really want or need to ) already buy commercially made up deans type bridging sockets, but most electric model fliers would simply make their own.
