John Hill 6
Also, I could not resist this, I had to go to to our offices in Chicago last week and whilst I was there I treated myself to one of these.
Hornet Rider
Hey John nice choice Just started with the fuselage. And my special decor set arrived.. Cheers Ric
Herri
Hi guys, I'm back. I was also over the pond but didn't get a motor (did get a new phone though) Love the motor, if only it were petrol. Builds are also looking good. I have done the aileron rods as per drawing. They are then just for show as each wing has its own servo. I must admit, I doubt if I will use them as they will be a fiddle at the field. Once I wake up properly, I hope to continue with mine. John Hill 6
Hi Herri, glad to hear you are back and looking forward to seeing your latest pictures. The new motor is Petrol, a new SAITO FG57, I can't wait to start it.

Hornet Rider
Hey John or Herri did you have issues with the dimensions of the fuselage frames made of balsa? Especially #4 drived me nuts. By inserting #3 (plywood for landing gear and wing fixing) I noticed that #4 was a bit too small...arghh. But is was built according to the plan... I also experienced a small dis-alignment at the end of the fuselage that I am trying to correct now. Here are some pictures... I wished all fuselage frames would be pre-manufactured, maybe made of plywood. Would have saved hell of a time. Cheers Ric
John Hill 6
Hi Ric, yes I had the same issues, when I inserted former #3 for the wing fixing, former #4 came unglued and popped apart. I ended up having to use the triangle former supports on #4 to give more glue area and then clamped it all together again.
Herri
Hi Ric, I don't remember specifically any problems. It does say in my instructions there may be space between the sides and former 3 and you should fill the gap with thin strips of balsa. Good luck Herri
Hornet Rider
Hi Herri yes the same text in my instructions, but not in real, at least with my version... Anyway, I really have to speed up a bit to have the plane ready by eastern (that's my deadline..) How have you solved the canopy? Open version or retractable? Herri
I am going to have the cockpit open for two reasons: 1. It will be much easier. 2. I will be able to pull the pilot out and get at the wing bolts and batteries. Good luck. Herri
Hornet Rider
Hey Guys here are some fotos to give you an update.. Test fit...can't wait... Herri have you started the engine? Cheers Ric
John Hill 6
looking good Ric, I've put mine on hold slightly as I want to finish another project, but should be back on to the Pitts in a couple of weeks. Herri any update from you?
Hornet Rider
Hey John could you please send me some detail photos of your elevator servo installation. What type of servos are you installing? I am not sure how to really fit my servos in...I am using HV Futaba S 3071, and I would have to make a shifted allingment... John Hill 6
Yes, I'll take some tonight and post them up. John

Hornet Rider
Thank you John. Did you guys also have to modify the fuselage to achieve the 0degr EWD?
Herri
Sorry Ric, I dont know what you mean. I didnt have to modify anything. Herri
Hornet Rider
Herri I mean the 0degr that are needed for the lower wing when attaching to the fuselage. According to my measurement I am currently at 1degr (back part of wing to high). Did your lower wing fit without doing anything?? Ric
Herri
Yes, I somehow got it right. I did check back then and the wing was zero and the tail 2 degrees I think. ( not home as I write this) herri
John Hill 6
Hi Ric, I had to sand a little bit off the rear end of the lower wing seat, to get to 0 degrees on my new fuz. But it wasn't too much and I am trying to fit a completed wing from another fuz to the new one I am building. Its worth getting this right at 0 degrees as a lot of measurements will come off this later in the build. john
Herri
Well, I have done a bit. I have also been working, cleaning the drive, the car etc etc. Thats my excuse and I'm sticking to it. I also admit this is the bit of the build I hate. I have been using Solartrim on the fuse sides but see it would not be any good for the curvature of the cowl or the wheel pants. I have therefore masked it off, as you can see and will spray those bits white and try to use the same black sticky trim. Hopefully when that is done I will be able to rekindle my enthusiasm
Hornet Rider
Hey guys I need your help. How did you drill the holes thru spar No 3 into the wing? This is driving me cazy.. Cheers Ric
Herri
Sorry Ric, you have lost me. Which holes do you mean? Herri
