kevin b
Just seen a thread post by BBC commenting on the high price he has to pay for balsa in his area. I thought it might be interesting to start a thread exploring alternative materials we have found for our hobby. Whether it is adhesives, building materials or finishing products. For instance I have found that the motor caravan industry are using a composite ply and foam material for partitioning which is extremely light compared with the 10mm ply they used to use. Great for larger model bulkheads. Many other industries are also looking at reducing weight / costs and I'm sure there must be stuff out there we can adapt to our hobby. Look at the effect of mobile phone technology on electric flight for instance. kevinb.
