Dylan Reynolds LaserCraft Services
Its been a while, but I have been struggling with sourcing good reference material for the Armstrong Whitworth Albermarle. I have several 3 views as well as loads of pics, but could really do with a plastic kit for reference. The 3 views, funnily enough are all different, not to scale and sometimes very crudely drawn. But I am determined and I will get this one done.
Tony Bennett
3 views tend to be done by artists and are never to scale. i tend to average out measurements from 3 or more sets of views. you will get there, i have faith. i am still collecting info (been a year so far) for my 2015 project. Dylan Reynolds LaserCraft Services
Well within 30 seconds of posting in a FB group, Jim Lambert sent me a link and I now have a set of scale drawing!
Colin Leighfield
Dylan. Have you seen the Albermarle DataBase in the October 2010 Aeroplane magazine? It's the best reference I have seen with an excellent three-view showing the Mk1 Series1 and the ST MkV. This shows wing sections and fuselage profiles. Loads of information on development history, service use, how and where it was built, what it was like to fly and a lot of photographs. Also a very good cut-away drawing with all of the detail you could wish for. You might be able to get a back issue, or I could try and copy some pages if you wish. Please let me know if you do. Colin Leighfield
It's in a bound set , (I always do that). I will see if I can maneouvre it around the copier! Leave it with me.
Dylan Reynolds LaserCraft Services
Brilliant, thank you, just don't risk damaging it just for me!
Colin Leighfield
Dylan, I've scanned and saved 15 pages. If you can send me an MS with your email address, I'll forward them to you.
Lindsay Todd
Excellent choice in the Albermarle, good general layout so should be a good stable airplane, and benefits from twin fins. At that size will make a great match to my Bristol Blenheim 1V. Will be watching this one progress with great interest. Linds
Colin Leighfield
It was originally a Bristol design and has a strong family resemblance to the Blenheim IV, although quite a bit bigger. Although it wasn't a brilliant aeroplane, it's flying characteristics are described as very docile, so it ought to make a stable and safe flying model. I've never seen it modelled before. Plummet
Dylan, Since suggesting the Albemarle to you I have bought a plastic kit from Ebay. It is unbuilt. It is NOT an Airfix kit. It is a vac-formed one that looks like a lot of work to do well. This one looks similar **LINK** I have P.M.ed you. Plummet
Dylan Reynolds LaserCraft Services
Cheers Plummet, have replied will look at the kit tomorrow
Dylan Reynolds LaserCraft Services
I have actually not been able to find a plan of any description, although a link i was sent showed a sort of plan (in Russian I think), I will compare it to what else I receive off you generous bunch. And when its built maybe we could fly them both in formation Linds?
