Phil Winks
Percy I really didn't think you were that serious but it would be interesting to see one in there, just as long as its not me at the sticks, the phrase that springs to mind is "A handfull" though to be fair the first link looks proper for this if a tad pricey, yes you get what you pay for but I'm sure there's a turnigy out there that has very near to this quality for half the price, I've flow upwards of ten of their motors over the years and never had one fail and IF you nose one in hard and do manage to bend the shaft they are fully replaceable

Phil Winks
That huge Haddock was bought by My Time Media (rcm&e et al) and is now Giant Shark and stock levels are not the best any more though their motor stock seems reasonable but some are quite low quality
Dylan Reynolds LaserCraft Services
Actually I have a HK G60 300kv which I thought about using initially, may go back to that again
Phil Winks
300kv ideally suited to a 5,6 or 7s lipo with a 13 to 15" prop prob Watts 300/350 at 16/17A though max amps are 60 so with a big enough prop and say a 6s lipo that would give a potential 1332W (nearly 2hp) so good for models of this type from 3.5/4lb to13.5lb yes a flexible motor just a lot of battery to fit in (and pay for) very long flight times on the smaller end of the size range though and lots of wriggle room on the motor loading preventing any chance of over stressing it quite likely a good choice if the prop isn't too big for the model {it could possibly get up to 18/20" x 10" Edited By Phil Winks on 07/06/2014 23:46:

Dylan Reynolds LaserCraft Services
Right, need to get this sorted today, I have here the G60 as mentioned above, may use that with a 5s setup which I also have here, I also have a thumper 3548 1100kv 750W motor here on the bench, decisions decisions, trouble is the motor needs to go in before fuz is completely built, so making the correct choice is obvious on this one lol. Dylan Reynolds LaserCraft Services
Look whats reappeared for New Years Eve Actually made some progress at long long last Thats the normal DF wing in the background and the tail of the X2 in front! Not sure if that wing joiner is enough for a 96" span model, I am adding sheer webbing as well, but I am very tempted at this stage to add a tube, saying that, my Stampe at nearly the same span has no tubes and uses a not dis similiar joiner, dunno what to do
Phil Winks
Your taking longer than me Dylan, and I don't have a laser cutter mind you it is twice as large as mine so your probably allowed

Dylan Reynolds LaserCraft Services
Cyano doesn't last long enough to go off in this house PV lol, nice to have some interest in this one, hopefully she'll be flying at Greeenacres. Cheers Phil, business isn't bad, could be a lot better, but like you say times are tough. Have done a little more today to the wing, not a load but enough to say I have made progress, the sheer webbing is all done, the trailing edge to the control surface is fitted, and thats about it, spent most of the day shaking off last night

Phil Winks
Posted by Percy Verance on 01/01/2015 21:26:53: My fault re: the cyano Dylan. I get mine half a litre at a time from a local industrial user and I decant to the usual smaller containers for use. I realise not everyone has access to bulk supples. My mistake........... The fridge trick does work though. I have some here that's almost 6 years old, still seems good. I obviously don't get through the stuff as quickly as some. I tend not to use it for joints with small areas of contact, as I'm convinced it's more brittle than the Aliphatic I mostly use. Edited By Percy Verance on 01/01/2015 21:33:10 Hardly a mistake Percy, a very useful piece of info, I'm a carpenter who uses CA a lot, and although thinking on it lasts longer in the winter it never occurred to me that it was the cold storage that improved its shelf life, every day a school day eh

Dylan Reynolds LaserCraft Services
Bit more done today... D Box was sheeted on top and main cap strips added Then a bit more sheeting and fiddling to add the trailing edge top surfaces This actually isn't as straight forward as I thought it would be, lots of thinking time and trial and error to get things right. I have abandoned the idea of a wing tube in favour of working rigging wires, so next job is to sort the hard point in the wing and sort out the same in the built fuz
