Keiran Arnold
Yes I really rate my perma grit tools too, my LMS used to hold stock until they closed. Tony there is a long list of dealers on their webpage- or you could as suggested buy at a show- although they are just down the road from me I always end up buying from them at the Nats. Tony Harrison 2
OK, thanks chaps - buying from a show is always a good idea I agree, but I want one now! Will see if my local model shops handle this stuff, or just get one from Ebay. rgds Tony
Jim Purcha
I'm considering buying a permagrit sanding block from Aircraft Spruce in Canada. What length of sanding bar do most of the modelers use for building? Jim Edited By Jim Purcha on 02/01/2016 19:11:
Robin Colbourne
Jim, the 280mm sanding block is by far the most useful size in my opinion. If you were sanding a leading or trailing edge then maybe the 560mm would be better, but its a bit unwieldy for general use. As others have said, you buy Permagrit tools for life, so you won't regret getting the more specialist ones. A few years back I worked on the QinetiQ Zephyr solar powered UAV and remember putting in an order for just about everything Permagrit made at the time! There were so many aeromodellers in the team that they didn't take a lot of convincing that we needed the full range.
Tim A
Having hankered after a Permagrit sander for 2-3 years as their virtues keep popping up in posts on here, and having read through this thread, I finally took the plunge and ordered a Permagrit angled sanding block direct from Mr Richardson at Permagrit. This was after trolling Local suppliers (in Australia I am in New Zealand) found the best deal was straight from the horses mouth so to speak. Although the cost X Aust. was a little dearer it was the freight cost that killed them one quoted Aus $59.20 for postage!!! the other (Traplet Aust. wasn't much cheaper. Mr Richardson was 7.15 pounds airmail approx. $16.00 NZ. Probably will arrive sooner than Aust. Posts snail mail too. As is so often the case it's not the cost of the item but the unjustifiable freight cost from a number of suppliers that kills online sales for me. They should take a leaf out of other online shops who don't inflate freight charges, some of the US suppliers i.e. Tower Hobbies for one.
