Colin Leighfield
You can imagine that if this develops into a standardised delivery system, we may have docking stations built into the roofs of all houses. With electronic guidance systems and possibly making multiple deliveries, the sky could be very full of these things in the not too distant future. Could be a problem if they over-fly our sites! Has anyone seen the D-Dalus UAV? It works in a different way to a helicopter, but has VTO ability in a lifting body, so can go much further and faster than a normal heli or multicopter. They're already talking about the ability to operate these things in swarms, sounds horrendous. The technology to do it is there now. Dave Bran
Yea, like in the 60's we'd all be using flying cars before the millenia....and..............................and......................... A-D-V-E-R-T-I-S-I-N-G P-L-O-Y!!!
Colin Leighfield
Maybe Dave. There are excellent practical reasons though why we don't have flying cars, even now. It might be an advertising ploy, but who cares? It's certainly possible very soon, probably the main things that will stop it are social perceptions, people won't like these things buzzing over their heads! John F
It would seem that the FAA has scuppered plans for Amazon to deliver items by drone with the recent ruling that all aircraft must remain within line of sight. : **LINK**
