Alan Cardwell 1
hi all, just bought my first "proper" warbird a hanger 9 thunderbolt, what a piece of kit but I'm not convinced that a 61 2stroke is has enough grunt for a 9lb model any thoughts or advice would be welcome. looking forward to Weston tomorrow except for the 6.30 alarm, hope the plastic doesn't go into melt down. cheers Alan
Biggles' Elder Brother - Moderator
Well "back in the day" the scale competition lads frequently flew 10lb scale warbirds with a 60 two stroke as the power! So, it'll fly. But I'm the type that likes a "bit extra" in the tank just in case. So I'd be looking at a 90 two stroke or a 120 four stroke. You might even want to consider a small petrol? I'm currently assembling the brother of this model, the Hangar 9 P51 Mustang 60 - and I'll be putting an E-Flite Power 90 up front - easily equivalent to a good 90 two stroke in terms of power. Personally I wouldn't go less than that in a warbird of this weight - but as I say, I freely acknowledge that I prefer to have a bit too much power rather than "just enough" - especially in a model of a prototype that "had a bit of poke". Phil Francis
I use a evolution 20cc petrol in mine ideal power. The video on Horizon's web site shows it with a 20cc. Phil
