Last flew in 2001!!!

Life, family and kids got in the way..

Wow have there been some changes..

My MDS engines seem to have dissapeared off the face of the earth, 2.4ghz has arrived, electric is now a biggie.

A few questions.

I have 15ltrs of fuel in the shed. Unopened kept in the dark, will it still be any good? ( i belive it will be but would like to hear from anyone who has any experiance of this).

Black wire corrrosion. My models were stored in the loft (lack of space). Should I get new switch harnesses to be on the safe side?

NiCAD batteries. These were stored out of the models. Some still have a residual charge, and work!!. Will they if i cycle them be any good or is it best to get new ones. I am thinking new ones would be best.

I live in  south Norfolk (Diss). Has anyone got any pointers for any local clubs..

Thanks

Try the fuel....if its OK ....good!

Ditch the switch harnesses and nicads...both are relatively cheap to replace these days, although you will probably find it is all NImH not nicad these days.

Norfolk eh...cant help with that one but it is flat and should have plenty of clubs! BMFA site will have links.

Welcome back, and welcome to the forum... be sure to check some of the "newbie threads" and also electric flight, as you say, has a lot going for it these days.

Thanks for the response.

I will indeed be throwing away the switch harnesses and nicads, as you say they are cheap now.

The BMFA list a local club or two so I will be looking into those.

I have been away from the hobby for to long now and I am really getting fired up. Iw ill be going to the LMA event this comoing weekend at Rougham. It has been at least 6 years...Will be purchasing all new batteries, fuel tube etc...

I hope to be flying by the end of May...

Hi Kevin,

Welcome back.. I'm in Norfolk and fly with the Watton club. A bit away from Diss but we have one member who comes from your area and a few from Thetford.

I'm one who's converted to electric, only one "slimmer" left The convenience and perfrormance are a 100% bonus.
