Steve Hargreaves - Moderator
During a recent trip up North I decided to call on that well known exponent of electric flight Nigel Hawes to see what he was up to...... I got a sneak preview of his latest design for 2008 including witnessing the final proving flights. I have been sworn to secrecy unfortunately & you don’t cross the Cumbrian Mafia lightly!!!!!!!However I can tell you the design is unusual to say the least!!!! It has the usual Hawes flat sheet wing & simple construction allied to excellent performance (easy to fly on a 2S set up & ballistic on a 3S) that are the hallmark of Nigels’ designs. In addition it ticks the “Low Budget” box by using low cost motors, ESCs & LiPos. Nigel tells me he has done a deal with GiantCod to supply a suitable power train for a very wallet friendly sum!!!! Keep an eye out for this one….should be in the September issue of RCM&E.....
