Essjay
Reading through the Modelfixings page about their servo screws and fixings, they say they supply grommets, but for using with their screws to fix cowls etc. They specifically do not recommend using grommets on servos. I've never heard this before, and surely all servos are designed to use grommets (apart from miniature servos). How would you fix them? Stevo
Not recommend grommets on servo screws? No never heard of that - ever. Perhaps it should read do not use cowl fixing grommets on servos? I always put the grommets in,and then the eyelets, followed by these screws and I've never had a problem, I've used Futaba, JR, Savox.... Perhaps id should say We do not recommend these grommets for securing servos.? fly boy3
Thanks guys for prompt replies. while we are on about servos, I read an article on the correct way to position the brass insert ! Can any one enlighten me , Is the flange on top, or on the bottom ?. LoL
iqon
the correct way is from the bottom on everything you read....
Essjay
On re-reading the Modelfixings webpage, it maybe my bad. It seems the 'grommets' they talk of are in fact 'O' rings, and I see now why they say not to use them on servos.
Broken Prop
I'm with Stevo regarding the servo screws from Modelfixings. Lovely little screws and they do a driver of the correct size for putting them in.
Chris Berry
I always use the Modelfixings socket head screws. As is intended, I use the grommets supplied with the servos but replace the standard servo screws with socket head. Have done for the last ten years. I've converted all my fixings to socket head (Allen Key) type. For cowls, canopies etc I use the 'O' rings that Modelfixings supply.
