Owdlad
Hi all. What's the best fuel Proofer to use on a celulose paint finish when using 20% nitro fuel?Owdlad
Engine Doctor
A two pack car lacquer finish is good but not always practical due to its toxicity. Clear coat made by Solarlac is good but would need to be sprayed as its solvent will etch into cellulose which is good. Problems only arise when yo try to brush it over cellulose as it will dissolve and drag the substrate.I don't know about the toxicity of Clear coat but it won't be as bad as the isocyanate hardener in two packs. Clear coat is only available in normal tins so you would need spray equipment . I fuel proofed a kyosho majestic engine bay with this some years I use 20% nitro fuel in this model and its still fine. jrman
Klass Kote is excellent. It sprays well and is totally fuel proof. It does have a very slight yellow tint which is only really noticeable over white.
Owdlad
Thank you for your recommendations. I will give Klass coat a try. I must admit im concerned over the fumes so i will probably try and source an air mask.
