Folding props

No, the diameter of a folder prop includes the spinner, so for example a 10x6 prop is only 10" diameter when mounted on the spinner.

To be more accurate it includes the size of a nominal spinner, so for example the quoted diameter of some makes of folding prop are based on a 40mm spinner.

There are many different shape and size of yokes to accommodate various sized spinners, and things get a bit more complicated with 3, 4, and 5 bladed props. However, as an example, each blade of a Graupner 12" x 6" folding prop is actually 5.25" long from tip to the centre of the bolt hole. This means that a 1.5" yoke is required to achieve a true 12" prop arc. The problem is, a 1.5" yoke may not be suitable for the spinner diameter required for a particular model.
