Brian Cooper
Apologies for the short notice, but we have only just had the "okay" for this event. Volunteer (model flying) help is required for a Schools Day event at Old Warden on Wednesday 10th June. Some of you may be veterans of this event which sadly came to a close a few years ago, but Old Warden has resurrected it and we need some volunteer pilots who are willing to let the (junior school) children have a go on a suitable trainer equipped with buddy-box radio. It is a good day out for everyone and Old Warden usually displays many of their vintage cars and motorcycles, plus they fly some of their aeroplanes. This is so much more interesting and livelier than viewing them in their (museum) neat and silent rows in dull hangars. After they have finished, the model aeroplanes have their go at doing displays and buddy-box flying. It is estimated there will be approximately 200 kids on site so it is unlikely that we will be able to give all of them a go in the time we will have available, but the more pilots we have, the better chance of giving the kids a go. After the kids have gone home -- at about 3:15 -- we normally have the place to ourselves and can carry on flying if we want to. We also require people who can assist with the “ground school” and escorting the children to and from the flight line, etc. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Cheers, B.C. Brian Cooper
We currently have eight pilots booked in for this event, plus two helpers for ground duties. We are now okay for pilots but we could use another one or two volunteers for ground duties. Cheers, B.C.
