Rhyl & District Model Flying Club would like to extend an invitation to you to attend our club’s "Aerotow event " over the weekend of 16th and 17th August 2008. Open to all flyers - see below. Our club field is situated in the wonderful North Wales countryside - just off the A55 main expressway…..

Look-out for the sign at the entrance gate Directions are on the website ( see link below )

All our events are low key friendly affairs with “off the peg flying” from 10am till 8pm (quiet electric only after 8pm) with few rules and regulations, in a relaxed and informal environment.

Saturday the 16th is dedicated to general flying of any model, whereas Sunday 17th (and possibly Monday the 18th if the weather is against us) is going to be allocated to gliders only. We have a couple of tug pilots available, but more tug pilots are more than welcome to spread the load!

Minimum of BMFA ‘A’ Cert to fly solo.

Pilot’s briefing at 9.30AM.

Please bring proof of BMFA Insurance on the day or you will NOT be allowed to fly

Beginners are welcome and we are usually able to provide approved club instructors to help those who fancy a first time go! Juniors or vulnerable adults must be accompanied by a responsible parent /guardian. We often have a barbecue on site, but unfortunately we do NOT have on site toilet facilities; however toilets are available within a few minutes drive.

Please note - due to farming activities we cannot allow pets on site.

Limited trader activity is also available - please contact us for further details.

If you require a solo demonstration slot just ask and we will try to accommodate.

All enquires to either

Mark Barnes (Club Secretary )Tel: 07950444338

Email: [email protected] or

Tim Mackey - message me ( Timbo ) via the forum ! or telephone 07855 352227

Note: All events are weather dependant and may have to be cancelled due to circumstances beyond our control - for up to date information - contact as above.

The aerotow weekend is usually a really good event, and recent years have seen excellent turnouts, with some very impressive models being flown. Any questions, just ask!

Cheers... Timbo.

Come along you are sure to enjoy yourselves

We also have the IMAC competition at our field over the weekend of 19th and 20th July, with practice sessions on the Saturday off the peg, and the actual serious competition on the Sunday. If you have not seen these boys in action, then come along for some precision aerobatic schedules....usually attended by the UKs best pilots.

Our postponed electric day is now merged with our informal "scale day" ( low key anything scalish is fine ) not serious competition stuff, and this is scheduled for 7th September.

The event did go ahead yesterday despite the "summer"(joke) weather that has dogged all our events this year. The turnout was small obviously with the weather forecast and the cost of travel these days people are rightly reluctant to travel if the weather looks iffy. All that said those that were there had a good time both tugs had early mechanical issues but some sterling work in the pits soon rectified that whilst a barbecue lunch was dished up. The resident tug pilots were Richie Badham and Leigh Hodson, I'm sorry that I haven't got a list of the glider pilots present but they certainly got plenty of action and good tows. There was some lift about at one time in the afternoon but it soon dwindled. I think the hardy bunch that were there had a good time, indeed they were still hard at it when I left around 6pm, well done to all
