Spikey
Can somebody please tell me what the spec is for the leads typically used on small motors of the D2826 / D2836 type? I need to make them a bit longer!
MattyB
If you strip back a bit of the wire and use a micrometer you can measure and work out the relevant AWG gauge. I am guessing without one in my hand, but I would imagine a motor of that size would be on somewhere between 14-16 AWG.
Spikey
Good thinking, Matty. Now to see if I can remember where I put the mic ...
Kevin Wilson
Or just buy silicon wire to the rating of your intended current draw. I know that will be a bit over being a three phase motor, but here will be a bit of volt drop and extra copper never hurts in that regard. Spikey
Can't find my micrometer, but in any case isn't all stranded wire nowadays metric - as in "14/0.2" is 14 strands each of 0.2mm diameter, and so forth? Anyhow, at least I now know it's called silicone wire Edited to add - I've just answered my own question. Apparently stranded wire is specified as 14/0.2, 32/0.2 and so on, unless of course you're American or talking about something pitched primarily at the US market, like multi-stranded wire used in RC models ... Back to hunting for the mic ... Edited By Spikey on 10/06/2016 13:16:
