John Stainforth
For the 1/5 scale Supermarine S6b that I am building, I have printed the fairings in Shapeways "strong and flexible" plastic. I used various primer-fillers to fill the porosity, sanding between coats. The fairings for the cylinder heads have some balsa formers to hold their shapes correctly. I wondered what glue to use and experimented with several. I found Extra Thick CA worked really well. In fact, it is so "grabby" it almost seemed to pull the plastic down onto the formers. The fit of the 3D printed parts to the balsa fomers, which were laser-cut, is excellent. I have posted a picture of these parts, with some of their balsa formers, in my 1/5 scale S6b album. I will share my experiences with 3D parts on this forum, since I am new to this.
