Gerry Gander
Has anyone made their own metal building board, if so, was MDF. With thin metal sheet stuck to it ?. Gerry.
Andy Green
Hi bought a magnetic building board at Gaydon last year. I have it on an old glass shower door to keep it flat. Also bought some 10mm * 3mm magnets and made some more clamps. Its grrrreat to use the vernacular. Andy
James Green2
I bought a sheet of mild steel 3mm thick for my build surface. You can get some really strong magnets on Ebay which you can glue to right angled corner brackets to make a jig. James
Mowerman
A great idea but try not to make the mistake of someone I read about here some years back by a chap who found that the sheet of stainless steel he had bought was non magnetic.
Delta Foxtrot
Yes, but I wouldn't stick it down in case diferential expansion causes it to bow. I use thin sheets of steel on top of a flat surface. I think that mine is thinner tham 3 mm, probably 1.5 mm. This allows it to conform to a flat surface better than a thick piece.Edited By Delta Foxtrot on 01/03/2017 16:19:
