X4R jumper removal after setting receiver mode?

The X4R receiver can output 11 channels if one uses it in CPPM mode -- i.e. channels 1-8 through the CPPM connection, and three PWM channels through the remaining three outlets.

But, to set the receiver into CPPM mode, rather than simple 4-channel PWM mode, one has to put a jumper across the signal pins of channels 2 and 3. So far so good.

But after binding can one remove the jumper? If not, how are you able to use channels 2 and 3?
