Using channels 9-11 with X4R in CPPM mode

I've configured my X4R (the white one) to CPPM mode using the jumper between ch2 and ch3 signal pins while binding, and it's successfully connected to a MicroBeast flight controller in one of my helis with a single CPPM lead, using channels 1-6.

I would like to use channel 9 (or 10 or 11) to control some lights but, even though the servo monitor in OpenTX Companion shows the channels are working correctly, nothing seems to be coming out of those channels in the receiver when tested with a servo (that is plugged in the right way round, and is working when checked with a servo-tester).

Do I need to do something else to enable channels 9-11, or have I maybe got a duff receiver, or misunderstood the capabilities of the receiver?
