Clive Moore
Hi all, I am building a 1/4 scale petrol powered cub. I have a question re battery capacity.I have to use two battery packs, One for the RX and one for the electronic ignition on the engine. I need about 3700 mah on each pack to give me enough power to fly all day (glider towing etc) without recharging.Obviously weight is as always an issue and I want to get the lightest packs I can without going to Lipos. I want to use NIMH packs. The question is, there seems to be two or three different sizes of NIMH packs with the same capacity IE 3700 mah AA packs and 3700 mah sub c packs. Apart from the physical size, whats the differance? IE will the larger pack provide more power?

Always broke
I always use Sub C packs on larger models to handle the current draw caused by the larger servos / control surfaces. Not a huge weight penalty for a big gain in battery capacity. I use AA packs on my engines as there is a very low current draw
