James M
Hi All I'm getting the Seagull EP Decathlon as my next model. I hope to be flying it this year - weather permitting!!I read the review on the J Perkins Web Site (by the venerable David Ashby) and the only concern is the following statement "A string of long-grass nose-over landings eventually broke the internal ply u/c mounts, so it’s best to beef these up with a little plywood at the construction stage. Unless, of course, your patch is a bowling green!" Simple question - can anyone give a bit more detail on how to do this ??? Found a nice video on You Tube - The Link
David Ashby - Moderator
Venerable ....at 45! I used small pieces of ply to effectively box in the wire u/c legs as they enter the fuselage so that they had no where to move in the event of a rough arrival. I would just add ply of balsa fillets in the area as you see fit. It wont make the area crash proof but as I say, may help absorb a few rough arrivals.
