Neil Sadler
Hi guys, after recently destroying my foam jet I was thinking of building one from scratch using balsa etc but I cant find any, can anyone recommend anywhere, it's for a 64mm EDF unit?, thanks

Piers Bowlan
This is for 68-70mm fan, I don't know if your fan will be suitable. What was your foam model that was destroyed? TN's Hawk was fitted with a 70mm Lander fan on 6s LiPo so looks like a high power setup, some more info on your fan/motor would help. Neil Sadler
Thanks for the info, the EDF is a 64mm Dr mad thrust 12 blade 3300kv on 4s, the plane was a Freewing Stinger mk2
Neil Sadler
This could be ideal for a transplant https://www.sussex-model-centre.co.uk/aircraft/edf-jets/kits/top-gun-park-flite-mirage-2000-edf-electric-jet-airframe-kit What do you think
Nigel R
The Stinger is quoted at 540g flying weight, so you're looking at small stuff. You might look at Tony Nijhuis's recent 3S designs. I think they were intended for 50mm fan but they are of similar size and weight to the stinger. Or, what about, deltas are easy to put together, with the fan mounted at the rear. e.g. **LINK** That's made from foamboard - but no reason it could not be done using a light 3/16" sheet balsa wing etc.
Nigel R
Mirage would be easier
Piers Bowlan
Or Typhoon? with a little bit of simplification regarding fuselage shape (cartoon scale).
Neil Sadler
Thanks for all the input, I've gone for the Mirage, it will be in the air quicker
Mark Stevens 1
Posted by Piers Bowlan on 21/08/2019 11:53:01: Or Typhoon? with a little bit of simplification regarding fuselage shape (cartoon scale). This would have been an ideal plan, a little resizing and reworking would produce a nice model. I've still got these plans put away somewhere Link Mark
