It was a decidedly odd design choice to run with the mixed metric/imperial bearing in the first place when everyone else was using a metric bearing just a half mm different diameter. I'm not sure about an internal sleeve for standard imperial size, I've only seen 1/2" ID listed for 1-1/8" OD, admittedly not looked for long though.
