Brendan Fogarty
Hi all, First post on here. Putting an old 48FS back together and can't find one of the plastic bungs/rubbing pads from the piston pin. Anyone know what material these are, and/or whether they are available as a spare anywhere? I can't see a part number for them anywhere. Thanks in advance Brendan
FlyinBrian
Are you sure there should be two, on some engines the gudgeon pin can only be put in from one side of the piston, on the other side of the piston the hole has a step to prevent the pin going all the way through. If indeed you need two, and you have one of them do you know anyone with a lathe who can copy the one you have, I thing they are made from nylon but possibly something like PTFE. flight1
They are made from PTFE (teflon) I bought a stick off eBay and used my drill as a lathe, done it for two ods os's now crude but works. a lathe is much/a lot better available from here natural and not glass filled for exsample Edited By flight1 on 13/10/2020 09:56:

Brendan Fogarty
Thank you all. PTFE makes sense, and I'm sure I have some at work, so making them up is not an issue. Cheers Brendan
Richard Wills 2
Don't think they are listed seperately you get it as part of a new pin. Happy days if you can make them yourself.
