Working on a field gateway - portable radio in the wheelbarrow - so just stood quietly and thought of Dad ( Ack Ack ) Father in Law ( Field Artillery), Mother in Law ( a "Fanny", drove ambulance during the London blitz ), Mum, war work.

None of them made a big thing of their contributions during the war, it was something they felt they had to do. But despite having Good War (went to France in 1939 as a Bombadier i.e. Corporal - coming home in 1945 a Major) Dad suffered intermittently with what would now be described as PTSD for the rest of his life - as have a large number of his contemporaries before and since
