Andy Stephenson
Latest lockdown project the Dupli Star which is a copy of Hanno's un-published design, Supra Star for a 60 size engine although smaller versions were kitted. It seems someone scaled it back up to original size from one of these. I had a local print shop reduce the plans originally posted on the UKCAA website down to 63" span from 68" to make it more manageable on a venerable OS RF 61. It has foam everything, wings tail and front and rear turtle decks all covered in balsa, the wings in 16" and the rest in 1/32" and stuck down with Gorilla glue. I widened the fuz slightly so I could fit a copy of an Acrowot canopy which is quite close to the original plan profile. I opted for a fixed tail dragger U/C to keep it simple as adding retracts to all my fleet gets costly. A lot of finishing yet to do but as the song says "we have all the time in the world" right now. Anyway, I won't be able to spray it till the weather gets better
Mike Watters
Looking good Andy. Are you going to glass the entire airframe, or glass the fuselage and film the wings and tail?
Andy Stephenson
Thanks Mike, The plan is to glass the whole airframe which is how I finished my Clipper III. Filming is OK for wings but the kind of film I like to use is becoming expensive or difficult to find. There's no shortage of glass fibre and epoxy. A.
