Engine indentity?

Recommended Posts

John you are a lucky man. The engine is a Mk 111 ED 2.49 introduced about May 1948, and apart from the missing prop driver it would appear to be complete and in quite goo condition. It was eventually replaced by the ED Racer in about 1950. Probably not many of this variant were manufactured and as a result it is probably worth quite a bit of money to a collector.

Hi john Have a look in the gallery section .I posted a picture of my complete motor some time ago .It Is rare compared to the Comp special which it is based on. Unfortunately no parts are interchangeable other than the prop driver and spinner.Replica tanks and tank mounts are available .
Regards

Hi Guys

For such a short life term between inception and replacement by the Racer, ED really seemed to 'go to town' on the 2.49 and more were produced than I at first realised.  I guess to make my ED collection complete I will have to seriously start looking for one myself.  Jack, liked the picture of the Arden, quite a complicate piece of engineering and in nice condition.  Congratulations.
