Adrian Smith 1
Now as I have a reasonably flat runway I alway fit the spats. I tend to take the view that if you have learnt to land properly they should last for a while. Not I am not perfect by any means and occasionally I manage a rather bouncy landing (flare too early or too slow approach) , there a split invariably occurs. Adrian Smith 1
First job is to clean and rub down the spat interior and brush on fibre glass glue and hardener and then add the fibre glass cloth and wet down and put aside to dry. Nothing fancy just something you buy at an auto shop. After dry fill the external split with P38 filler/hardener and let dry. Rub down and trim the excess glass cloth Ready for painting. Adrian Smith 1
Masked the black area with newspaper and sprayed with a black gloss auto spray paint. I know it doesn't look pretty but it does a good job.
Adrian Smith 1
Last job to refit to my Sbach 342 60cc leccy. Doesn't take long as all constituents a quick drying and the end result is a strong join ready for the next bounce!!
