stuey
Hi, just got a new Irvine 53 for crimbo but the instructions are a bit lacking. It says run it in at full throttle for 2-3 mins at a time just breaking into 2 stroke, which is fine. But they dont say how long for in total! It will be mounted in my Acrowot and run on the ground. I am thinking maybe a couple of tanks then fly it a bit rich for a couple before gradually leaning out for a few more. Any advice would be appreciated
flytilbroke
Sounds fine, mine were ok after doing much the same. Except give it a short 20 second leaned out to normal run a few times per tank. They need to reach full temperature to properly run in and running very rich cools them. Grant Darnley
Mine's been hammered from day one but it's the older Irvine-made one, a tank on the deck to get used to the needles then away it went, running in these days is more to familiarise you with the engine than anything else. Myron Beaumont
Have been using my Mk 2 for quite a while & only problem I've noticed is a bit of con- rod wear ( prop moves about 3 or 4 degrees at piston top dead centre ) BUT does not affect performance whatsoever If only they made a 4st version I would be the first to buy one ! Yes I know they are now OS but they (OS that is )are beyond my pocket !
