Ron van Sommeren
Derek Harris wrote (see)... i have a 25amp esc ...It must be a brushless controller, a controller for brushed motors will not do the job at all.Vriendelijke groeten Ron
Simon Chaddock
Hi Derek If your dimensions are correct this could be quite a powerful motor but you need the actual maker/model number to be sure. A brushless motor is light & powerfull but it must have the appropriate propellor, ESC and battery combination, otherwise you will probably wreck one or all of them. So in simple terms The make and model of the motor to identify its full specification. This will set the maximum current the ESC has to be able handle safely. Which inturn will set the capacity, number and type of the cells required in your battery. And what you end up with (thrust & weight) will determine the size & nature of your plane. Of course most people do it the other way round. They first decide on the model, this determines the power required from the motor and so on! Dave S.
Derek, I fly a similar model, 45" x7" chord 3 channel trainer, mine is a modified KK Outlaw, uses a Typhoon 15 brushless outrunner, 8x GP1100 NiMH battery pack, 9x5 prop, all up weight is about 750g, flight time is 10 minutes normal flying. Model is now about 5 years old and was most recently flown yesterday (outdoor air temp. was -11 degrees C). I can put a Wattmeter on it sometime if the reading will help.
